JOHNNY BURNETTE & THE ROCK'N'ROLL TRIO: "Train kept A-rollin'" (1956)
Vamos a retomar la sección “Classic songs”, que lleva un buen puñado de días relegada en el olvido con tantas fiestas de por medio, y lo haremos por todo lo alto, con un mega-clásico como “Train kept A-rollin’”, una canción compuesta en su día por el director de orquesta Tiny Bradshaw.
Esta vez me saltaré la original firmada por Bradshaw, que vio la luz en el año 1951, no porque sea menor ni muchísimo menos, simplemente para recordar la de Johnny Burnette & The Rock’n’Roll Trio, al que tengo un especial cariño. La versión que protagonizó esta inolvidable formación de rockabilly afincada en Tennessee era mucho más dinámica, enérgica y cruda, con un ritmo trepidante que la convierten en un tema legendario.
Muchos otros artistas también la incorporaron a su discografía o simplemente en sus set-lits. Ahí están los ejemplos claros de Aerosmith, The Yardbirds, Hanoi Rocks, Colin James & The Little Big Band, Twisted Sister, Motörhead o los propios Led Zeppelin, que la utilizaron para tocarla juntos la primera vez que se unieron.
Train kept A-rollin’: un enorme y directo rock’n’roll de la vieja escuela que perdurará hasta el fin de los tiempos. Espero que la disfrutéis.
